Practical field experience pulling lists to execute actual client-based mail campaigns for all product managers

I have tangled all day with trying to use RE Mail to actually make my administrative life easier as small development shop manager looking to get out some basic targeted segmented appeals while tending to a million different details. The way features are implemented, it occurs to me that it is possible that the people designing the system might not have ever had to get clean list to produce an actual mailing for nonprofit. Or maybe it's been a really, really long time since their last field experience.

I would seriously consider implementing field service project requirement where product managers spend 4 weeks (annual minimum) in house at a client fundraising office responsible for query criteria, merge/subing for safe guarding and exporting, then manually filtering for criteria errors and exceptions, mailing drop and appeal recording. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to have a sense of how the execution of those tasks ends up affecting your mission's bottomline in $ raised. Maybe you do this already and there is some secret sauce about how to simplify the process of producing a mailing that my colleagues and I don't own the recipe book for???
