Currently you can only merge individual records together or organizational records together. This gives way to frustration when you a faced with the prospect of merging an individual record with an organizational record (i.e. gifts in deceased individual's records that need to move to the Estate's organizational record). The current solution for this issue is to convert the Estate record to an individual record - merge what needs to be merged - then convert it back to an organizational record.
Please consider changing the merge feature to allow for individual and organizational records to be merged together.
I think changing the record to an individual then back is actually the best way to do this. Merging an indiv and an org normally would be fraught with issues.
I should clarify that my predecessors put Estate gifts into the Individual's records and did not create an Estate record. I am in the process of fixing this within our system, which is how this idea came about.
Sorry, don't think this is best option. Too many differences between individual record and org record in relationships, addressees, etc. In your example the gifts from the individual should stay on the individual record per our procedures. They were not gifts from the estate. In many cases estate is separate legal identity when it comes to taxes and such.
Don't think merging is a good idea.
