OWC 2003 is no longer supported by Microsoft therefore it is a potential security vulnerability. As a sysadmin it makes me queasy when I have to install unsupported software like that. OWC allowed for powerful attacks in the past (http://www.checkpoint.com/defense/advisories/public/2011/cpai-04-octf.html, https://isc.sans.edu/forums/diary/OWC+exploits+used+in+SQL+injection+attacks/6811) and if there are new vulnerabilities found they will never be fixed. I find it ridiculous to require unsupported software for one of the features in RE especially since the end of support was known long in advance. Another thing is that Windows 9 is just around the corner as well as new version of Office. Will OWC still work then?
So here's my dillemma: should I allow the install of OWC and potentailly open the system up for attacks or deny it and suffer the users' ire because they can't use the Dashboard? Is there any hope on the horizon?
Excellent news! I'll upgrade my organization at that time. As far as the link you provided it won't work in my environment. It will only install on systems with Office 2007 and we're using Office 2010.
