If a constituent record or a Pledge/Recurring gift record is deleted from RE, apparently a request is immediately sent to BBPS to delete any associated credit card numbers. If constituent or gift records are accidentally deleted (or because of sabotage) and subsequently the database is restored from a backup, the credit card numbers on Recurring Gifts and Pledges of any deleted members will have been removed from BBPS, and cannot be recovered, only re-entered from original paperwork if available or by calling the member.
If this is true, it is scary. How about having BBPS give us, say, a week to restore the database and somehow refresh BBPS before the numbers are deleted? Or, just let them stay in as “orphans” (even though the tokens in RE may no longer exist) until the expiration date passes.
