Update credit card data on an RE gift when the Credit Card has been changed in BBMS via Blackbaud SKY API
We have a vendor that obtains changed credit card information from our recurring donors via phone calls. They have been sending this information to us in a file where we then update the information in RE. Due to a PCI compliance project we are looking at ways to avoid having the CC data transmitted to us. We engaged with our vendor to use the Blackbaud SKY API to update the credit card on the existing token for that particular recurring gift. The process seems to work in charging the credit card properly when we process the recurring gift, however the updated last 4 digits and the expiry date of the CC never make it back into RE. We are requesting an enhancement to make this update happen in RE when a CC is modified in BBMS.

The ability to update existing credit card payment information for recurring monthly donors from vendors needs to happen. The benefits of this would include: 1. Give a true timeline of a monthly donor's journey of lifetime giving that includes retention efforts when payments are missed 2. Keeping credit card information encrypted and secured from start to finish 3. Organizations that have recurring monthly donor programs would greatly benefit and utilize this enhancement as it would save time to import and update records. Please consider how this enhancement would impact marketing, reporting and data entry teams in the long term.
