Sad to see this recommendation has been standing since 2012 and no further action. We are so frustrated wtih spousal soft crediting and the need to differentiate it from DAF and Foundation soft crediting, that we are to the point of considering re-merging spouse records into one constituent and just dealing with Luminate on the back-end. UGH.
A closely related idea is soft credit TYPES. Household soft credits serve a different purpose than donor advised fund soft credits, for instance. Soft credits are necessary but the following report disclaimer shouldn't have to be: "Since gifts have been credited to more than one constituent, report totals may be inaccurate."
Thank you for creating this, Melissa. I've been pulling my hair out over soft credits ever since I started working with RE. Soft credit types would be extremely helpful.

Been saying this for YEARS!

I agree - SC "types" are what we need.
Depending on how you use them that disclaimer may still be necessary.

This would be ever so helpful.
