The ability to code gifts with soft credit, differentiating between soft credit for a household member and true soft - or third party - credits, is imperative and will allow for much easier query/export/reporting.

I hope BB will consider the addition of a new soft credit type - Soft Credit Household.

When database users pull reports and queries and must choose between the donors and soft credit recipients, this change (with the most appropriate "type" of soft credit selected) will provide a more accurate list of results. Even a simple list of individual gifts with this new soft credit type included as a column will provide better results.
