I am/was about to run my first address finder download/import into our database.
I followed the Blackbaud instructions, and conferred with Chat Support to request a backup file of my database prior to executing the import of updated addresses.
The support analyst informed me that, in the hopefully unlikely event we needed to revert to the backup file, it would cause us to lose our NXT data. I asked if there was a way for Blackbaud to look at our updated address data file against our database to do what we could to prevent any possible corruption of our data. She said this would be a charge for professional services.
I would like to propose this be something BB development takes a closer look at, for the benefit of their NXT customers, to ensure all data, whether database view or NXT, is backed up and not at risk for being lost.
There seems to be a disconnect between the database and the NXT platforms. It is unfair for BB to expect clients to absorb any additional cost for something like a product-to-product disconnect, especially since NXT is still in its infancy and continues to evolve.
