All constituent queries in RE provide the option to include the hard credit, soft credit or both. This should also be the case with the analyze dashboards listing constituents.

If a gift comes through a family foundation, the foundation is hard credited and the soft credit is placed on the respective individual records. When running the retention report, individuals who give through the family foundations are coming up as LYBUNT when they are current-they just happened to give through the foundation this year. 

For couples, we always hard credit the gift to the head of household. However, sometimes the head of household will change. When this happens, the hard credit switches to the new HofH and the previous HofH will appear in the LYBUNT list.
