The NetCommunity donation pages populate their drop-downs from tables in RE. This includes the Country drop-down, which pulls its listing from the International table in RE. Maybe the United States and Canada are in the list by default, but the vast majority of countries have to be manually added. That's a real issue for non-US donors trying to donate and a VERY big job for someone to add them all to the listing. I spent a lot of time researching the countries of the world and finally was able to add them all to our table, complete with the proper currency type (which isn't used as far as I can tell) and the most appropriate address format. I have several issues...
1. It would be very helpful if the International table had more built-in functionality. Two examples would be to offer an Inactive checkbox and a Table Cleanup like other tables in RE have.
2. Make it easier to delete a country. We currently have 2 countries that are misspelled in our listing. I had previously corrected them, but I noticed the other day that they were back in the list and viewable from our donation page. Currently I'm working with our IT supervisor to add the Delete Countries plug-in, but that really shouldn't be necessary.
3. Pre-populate the International table with a listing from the US State Dept. or from the USPS. Neither are perfect, but they would go a long way to making it easier for international donors to support us.
4. Allow custom address formats to be chosen. In my research I found out that a lot of countries have very different address formats from the U.S. Two of the most confusing are Japan and the UK. There are only five preset address formats to choose from, and I was forced to choose the UK default for almost all of the countries that I added to the International table. What that means is that even if a country doesn't use a certain field, that field will still show up on the donation page and it cannot be removed. Two examples are the counties and postcode fields. It's forcing our donors to adapt their address to the UK format.
5. The absolute worst is New Zealand. Not only does New Zealand have to be added to the countries listing, but also all the cities and suburbs too! When NZ is chosen as the country, two drop-downs appear - Suburb and City. Those two drop-downs are linked to two unique tables in RE, NZ suburbs and NZ cities. I made a very exhaustive listing for both which took a lot of online searching to complete. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get my IT manager to overwrite those two tables with mine. I have them on 2 spreadsheets. The listings we have in RE currently don't have many NZ cities or suburbs, so it makes it impossible for them to give to us through the donation page, unless they call or email us and we add their city and/or suburb.
