Sometimes I do not want to create a new record, but the Spouse has become more important than the Head of Household. Rather than copy the information down, I'd like a swap button.
While it might be "handy" not sure a swap function would work like you think. The constituent codes might not be the same (ex: board member), addressee formats might not pull same way (Mr & Mrs. Jill Smith) the relationships/actions are for the person with the record - spouse may not always have same relationships/actions.
This is a brilliant suggestion!!! Many of our constituents have shared records and many of the records need to be "flip flopped" as we call it. As with any feature, if you know what it can do and its limitations, you should be able to use your judgement as to whether it is the right situation to use the feature or not.
This would be really helpful. A lot of the time we will enter a couple before we know how involved they will be with our organization. Many times we find that the spouse is the most involved of the couple. Rather than write down the information, I would rather switch their info and update the codes.
In the past, our records were often flipped and it was been a sloppy mess. I cannot even begin to get into all the problems like relationships, birth dates, addressees/salutations, and so on. I have found that it is usually best to just bite the bullet and make a record for the spouse and mark them head of household. There are downsides to this as well because we prefer to have a primary record and a nonconstituent spouse record whenever possible. Also, who is the "prefered primary" record can vary depending on who is looking at the record, and that can pose some issues as well (constant flip flopping) so just like merge I would like to limit its use.
If they could make this work I would be interested.
This would be amazingly helpful. I waste so much time cleaning up records that need the names switched like that. At least a couple every single day! This is especially important in regards to email addresses... if only one person has an email we don't create two constituents but just put the person with the email as the first person and the one without as the relationship.
Yes! This would be particularly helpful with the membership module especially in an instance of death, or divorce. There should be a way to switch the primary membership from one spouse to another without having to drop the membership and creating a new one. Or, if the membership is downgraded from two people to one. Thank you!
Yes! We don't create separate records for the spouses, so it is super frustrating when we have to switch the primary constituent. This would be handy for Board members...
Yes, I regularly do this manually and I am sure I forget to swap gender and date of birth sometimes. Doesn't need to be a button, an option in the Constituent menu under Convert to Organisation would be lovely.
This would be great!

This would be an exceptional addition as mentioned below when a spouse dies everything on the record could potentially need to be changed around.
