copy information from one constituent's record to another

Ability to copy information from one constituent's record to another, as in the case of a divorce. When a married couple gets divorced, we make the non-constituent spouse a constituent. If I merge info from one record to another (as I would in the case of a deceased constituent), the information moves rather than copies. Then I have to go back in and soft credit all the gifts, and manually copy attributes, etc. I would like to be able to copy gifts, attributes, notes, actions from the constituent to the new constituent.

Essentially, if we could use the Merge Constituent functionality with a slight tweak where it copies the information instead of moving it from one constituent to another.

I don't understand why this doesn't have more votes. RE Users have been asking for this feature for years. It would be SO helpful!!

In Configuration- Business Rules- Constituent Options- Deceased Options you can set this up to occur, at least for the gifts, in the case of a constituent that is deceased.
