Log Out Option for Raiser's Edge Mobile App

It would be great to have the ability to manually log out of the mobile app for Raiser's Edge. This would aid in security of the app, as well as ease functionality of being able to switch access to a different device without waiting for the app to log you out for being idle.

Our organization would like to see security measures taken-up with the Raiser's Edge Mobile App. A time out function seems standard these days, so please add that protective measure. I wonder if the user can log out from their phone, something I see discussed below. Does that option exist now?

I would like the Mobile app to have an auto time out function so that even if user forgets to log out, records are more secure.

This should be a high priority issue as it presents the possibility of a data security breach for an unattended device.

Security should be a top priority. We can't use the app unless its secure. So all the other work on functionality being developed is secondary to security.

    1. Insecure 2. Just plain sloppy Yes, this needs to be added.

Both a manual logout option and a timeout (where the user is forced to log in again after x minutes of inactivity) is needed before we will even consider using this product.

Jenn, Here's an example of the problem we have with the app. Lets say I log in and go to the constituent search screen and then set my phone down for say 45 minutes. When I pick up my phone again I am NOT asked to log in again before I'm able to start searching for constituents. I understand that the inactivity has released the license, but we would like to force the user to have to log in again before they can start using the app again after that long a period of inactivity. Without this added layer of security we will not use the app. Period. And I'm pretty sure that's the general feeling here.

Jamie, thank you for stating the same security problem as we see it.
It may be a nice feature that the license is released but the security of info is still the main issue. While our organization would have P & P for smartphones to be password protected, it is someting that would ultimately be out of our control. If the user was forced to have to login again to RE before constituent search was available then we would use the app. As is the App presents to great a risk to our donors confidential information.

Also, I carry both an iPad and an iPhone. If I am logged into one, pretty sure I have to wait for the timeout to occur before I can log onto the other device, otherwise I get a message that I am logged onto another device.

Jamie Cross on February 25, 2013 7:36 a.m. said it perfectly.
Requiring the entire phone to be locked is not an acceptable alternative because it is easily disabled after the user is annoyed by it. The app itself must be able to be locked upon exit.

But it can be locked by the user. If you back completely out, the app is locked and you can not enter again without putting in a password.

I agree that it should require a login after a timeout as well so it has minimally the same security as your desk you either close out or the timeout closes you out requiring a login before you can proceed.

Frankly, users should sign a user agreement that they WILL use and keep a phone lockout if they do ANY company work on their phones (email, RE, etc.) and be threatened with dismissal for disabling it.

Really needs a logout button. If I hit it by mistake occasionally that is simply my fault.

Amen - hit the logout button - how long does it take to log back in? Not long!

Really need a logout button. Unless you make separate logins specifically for mobile use, it locks users out of the PC version of Raiser's Edge. Also raises security concerns without a logout feature.

Really, really, really want a logout button. Waiting five minutes at my desk for the license to time out before I can log into my desktop client gives me time to meditate on how annoying it is.

Wonderful! Thanks for all of the hard work that continues to go into this application! My development officers love it!

Has what been released? The mobile app? or a version of the mobile app with a logout option?

There is a mobile app - but no, it currently has no logout button.

Has the update that was supposed to be released in early August that addresses this issue been released yet.

I believe our staff who use this would like the logout function for security reasons.
