Membership - ability to add past history for current memberships

We would like to go back and add historical membership data for our current members. Unfortunately, as things stand, we would have to delete all their current history, enter past history and then would have to reenter the current history.
At the very least, the ability to edit a membership so that we could change the first date joined would be helpful.

    Nancy - you've hit upon a HUGE FAILURE in memberships. Once a membership has been renewed, all past transactions are locked down, and cannot be edited. Even imports are limited. The date joined cannot be changed, gifts cannot be unlinked and relinked, and changes in general are impossible. At the very least, supervisor-level users should be able to make changes - but that's not possible.

    There is no good reason to lock down membership like this!!!
