We want to be able to consolidate receipts for recurring gift payments, but should a donor make a cash gift to on our our appeals then in most cases we want to receipt and acknowledge that at the time. Most but not all donors would like this - some would like just one receipt a year and no acknowledgement of additional cash gifts at the time they are made.
Currently, during batch entry, if we get the recurring gift message when entering a cash gift we manually change the constituent receipt type back to One per gift, then need to remember to change it back to Consolidated after processing and receipting the cash gift. But this is a bit hit and miss and does not account for donors who really do want their cash gifts consolidated.
Adding a receipt type to the Recurring Gift that overrides the Bio2 receipt type would mean that if donors want ALL gifts consolidated they would have Consolidated on both the Bio2 tab and on the gift. But if they want consolidated receipts for their recurring payments, but individual receipts for their one off gifts they could have One receipt per gift on Bio2 and Consolidated on their recurring gift. One of the other fundraising databases I used had this option and it worked really well.
