As gift exports work right now, you can export campaign, fund, and appeal, but they do not tie together as they do when viewing a split gift on the gift record.
Sometimes the way these three items work together is important, and it would be nice if, instead of three separate, unrelated records in the export, you could export the amount, campaign, fund, and appeal for each gift split.
Yes... we desperately need to export split gift records
YES! You should be able to export splits (particularly in Report Write Format) the way the gift split is stored in RE.
Most definitely! It is impossible for me to write some reports in Crystal reports because the campaign, fund, appeal, and amount are not all linked together as one line of the split gift.
I completely agree. We need this for custom reporting.
To me there's an issue with the entire programming for split gifts. User should be able to easily apply a gift to any one or mix of the funds in a split gift - not have it automatically do percentage to all. Pledge status reports get messed up. When querying on gifts to a specific fund, it would be nice to just have the $ amount allocated to that fund pull, not the whole amount. Just lots of issues...
Also the split should show up on tax receipts, not just "This gift has been split across multiple funds."
It's frustrating especially with pledge balances! If a donor has paid against a split gift with multiple funds, the balance still shows even if they donor paid off one of the balances of a specific fund. Having the balance carry with every portion of the split gift is just poor design!
I agree!
I exported a bunch of gift splits, and after filtering the export to only include one campaign, and one fund, still got a package from a gift from a different campaign. Boo! It's so frustrating when an organization builds a workflow around using gift splits, trains everyone to use splits, and is then unable to generate useful data just because a Blackbaud programmer didn't bother including it in the export function. Now, after hearing "don't use queries for reporting" over and over, we are told to use queries, since exports weren't designed that way.
This was the number one request I received when moving an old client from RE to another platform, It is so easy to do correctly, when you don't have to worry about people who have already adapted for this..... I would love to see blackbaud change this, and if some of the old team were still there I am sure they would have by now....
