data entry of dates

At a previous job, when programming and doing data-entry, when the focal point/cursor was in a date field, we could strike the letter "t" on the keyboard, and the field would auto-populate with "Today's Date." It is a HUGE time saver, and a joy for those of us who are die-hard keyboarders. Would it be possible to do this with the Raiser's Edge?

This is not a suggestion - this functionality already exists. Check knowledgebase before adding suggestions. you press F3.

If you type F3 it will put in today's date

I have already reported this to Jenn Mercer as one that can be removed as an idea since it already exists in the software. I guess she is still catching up on updating these. Jenn??

While all of you are correct about F3 putting in today's date, it only inserts the actual date. F5 enters the date the process was run, but it doesn't work everywhere.

For example, we have a Global Change process, which we run on a daily basis, where we want to add the date the Change was run to an attribute, but there's no way to specify "Today's Date" in Global Change. F5 does not exist in Global Changes. Every time we run the Change (every day), we have to open the date change, press F3 to put in today's date, and then run the change - instead of just running the Global Change without any modifications.
F5 works in Default Sets, for example, to enter "Today's Date", and whenever the default set is loaded, the date added is the date the default set was added to the record.

Art. I believe that is a separate suggestion elsewhere in Uservoice. I agree with you on that one.
