The plugin Import-o-matic contains basic functionality that RE ought to have for every user. Instead of having to figure out all the mapping and do multiple imports to make a complete record. You should be able to map whole records at one time and in one place. If you can exporrt all the fields at once, why can't you import them all at once?
Importing in RE is nearly impossible. I have spent far too much time trying to make it work.
We use a different software to track our volunteer activity, and I am manually inputting each volunteer timesheet at the end of every month. If setting up an RE import didn't take more time then just entering them one-by-one, I wouldn't waste so much time with this process. RE needs to either integrate Import-o-matic as a default function, or set up their own importing system, but the current process is pretty frustrating.
let’s do this!,,,
This tool needs to be part of RE. I don't know if BB have realized some charities are moving away from RE. this is because they (charities) are finding the right tool for their business. It is a matter of time before BB realizes that it is time for them to provide effective tool to charities. By the way BB is all about business and profits and charities are the easy audience :)
Considering how many other products Blackbaud has acquired, I find it difficult to understand why they haven't acquired O-Matic software.
Please do this. RE's import facility is far behind other databases, and I've never before seen a company try to sell another company's product as a solution to their own product's deficiency.
Nail, meet hammer! Exactly!
Same holds true with EventOMatic.
Agree! Why should I pay extra for essential importing functionality that is clearly lacking in the standard Raiser's Edge?
+1
I'm in the middle of a migration from a home grown legacy database and have just discovered that there is no real solution to import Fund Relationships into RE outside of Import-O-Matic. I don't think it's OK to not have an integrated solution for this problem.
It is frustrating to have to find a workaround to import Fund Relationship fields, midway through a complicated migration, while following the approved BlackBaud import process. It is also detrimental to my migration timeline...
Thanks for listening.

I would not mind paying for an optional module but the price to pay for this software is not fiting for non-profit orgs like us. It's ridiculously expensive and I cannot justify to myself for letting my school pay it even if it makes my import life easier.
It would be really helpful for me to be able to import to a batch.
To streamline the functionality of Import O Matic closer with the imports in Raiser's Edge it is my mindset they should combine them. Make one really sweet importing feature in Raiser's Edge.
For any of us working with outside systems that don't integrate with Raiser's Edge (and being hosted, that expands the number), importing is time-consuming and complicated. The Import function is not user friendly and even being able to see what you did last time (without the file) is tricky.
Good idea - but please don't remove the existing Import functionality, as many organisations also have procedures reliant upon these, and will sometimes incorporate additional validation to ensure that errors in the supplied data are identified.
Any movement on this idea?
Since the majority of our gifts go thru the Import function, it would be great to have Import-o-matic as an additional option/function of RE. This would help us for the Tribute module. We do some in batch where we use the Tribute module and the rest have to be done using attributes. It is frustrating and there is no standardization.
Importing new constituents and gifts as a single import process. Organizations run annual campaigns/drives that bring in hundreds of new donors and their first time gifts. This is a primary use-case. Raiser's Edge can import new constituents. It can also import gifts for pre-existing constituents. It cannot do both: importing new constituents with their first time gift. Blackbaud should provide the functionality to import batches of new donors together with their gifts as a single import process which would be a huge time saver.
May I have more than 3 votes for this idea please?
Jean, does that mean Blackbaud is not interested in making it a 'regular' component of RE?
