Global change in recurring batches
We use the Reference field in the Gift batch to indicate the pay period for employee payroll deductions. Each time it is processed, accounting has to go through each record and change the gift reference to the next pay period being processed. Since Reference is a plain text field, the global change option isn't available within the gift batch. It would be so helpful, especially since we have 1300 per pay period, if this field could be globally changed each time.

Jill, this field auto populates with next installment if you are correctly using the features of a recurrign batch. I had an issue with it not updating when payperiod missed - kept reference of from last entry. Support suggested removing the field from showing in my recurring payroll batch and tha even took care of that small issue. All payments I've checked have shown correct installment in reference field.
If you don't want to do that, at least consider a global change of reference for the batch - tons more efficient than changing one by one.
I'd also suggest that you may want to post a question like this on forums to get other users suggestions before posting here in discovery.
I would like to have the "check number" field able to be changed by a global change in my recurring batches. I have to paste the current check number in for each entry in my recurring batch. This takes a lot of time and sometimes RE is a bit slow to keep up with the pasting, resulting in the check number being put in twice in the same record.
