When creating segmented mailing lists for direct mail, we segment people by gift size. Based on gift size, they'll receive a package with a specific ask string. Right now, we're having trouble with people who have soft credits getting into the correct segmentation -- an example would be that hard credit goes to a company, for a $1,000.00 check. However, there are 5 people who contributed and received soft credit for various amounts totaling $1,000. When we run the query and segment, each donor is getting credited for 1k instead of for the portion that they actually contributed. In the end, we assign a high ask string to someone who actually only gave $5.00. Having soft credit functionality in Quick Letters would allow us to assign appropriate gift strings to soft credit donors.
This is a problem in queries in general. I'm surprised this has flown under the radar for so long.
Are you using query to create your segments? Are you using query tools to set your SC options to be to the recipient using the amount in the grid and still having this problem?
