We also track class registrations and other non-donation payments in Raiser's Edge and need to easily be able to distinguish between those payments and actual gifts.
Adding a check box to the gift record to distinguish between gifts and non-donation revenue that can be used in query, export and other output, and would show up as an optional column on the constituents giving grid, would make it much easier to include and exclude this information. It would also make it easier for front line staff and fundraisers to understand when a donation has been made versus a payment for service. And, we could use the output as an if/then/else statement to include/exclude tax deduction language on thank you letters simplifying that process.
You could call the check box whatever you want . . .Not tax-deductible, Non-donation Payment, I don't care. I just need simpler way to separate these payments than relying on Fund, Campaign or Appeals alone.
I so agree with this idea! It's horrible the RE creates a process that is so misleading. Very unprofessional.
I agree! Having this option you would not have to be creative by add any attributes, funds, appeals, campaigns, or use gift type, to exclude or include these type of donations or products in your giving totals.
