Do you collect money for attending an event? Though we haven't done this yet - I believe you can enter event participants under "gift batch" and link the gift to the event. If you are only registering, attendance and there is no money attached to the attendance. You can enter each person in attendance very quickly by using defaults, and key stroke defaults. We use this process to record church attendance and we are done marking over 1,000 peoples attendance in 5 hours. Feel free to reach out to me for further details, Kevin DeCloux - 214.351-1901 or kevin.decloux@cathedralofhope.com
On further review though, this would be VERY handy when processing certain class participants. Most of our classes are free so they have a zero dollar amount assigned to them. We often need to add a constituent attribute to class registrants and gift registrations do not contain constituent attribute fields.
Christine, that's correct but only for existing constituents. I think the propose is to be able to add new constituents in the batch and at the same time create new participant records for them in the event record.
We need BOTH capabilities: 1) to be able to add Event registrants in a batch, which will import directly into the Events record, with or without a gift, and the ability to set default participant attributes in the batch; and 2) to be able to default our gift batch to automatically link each gift in the batch to a specific event, with default participant settings.
Right now everything is "click open this window, close it, then click open another window, close it" for each and every gift/participant. Everyone knows that operating in excel-type batches is WAY more efficient than opening and closing windows repeatedly. Gets decidedly annoying.

David, do you mean to add multiple participants at one time? Or adding participants when doing a batch of gift entry?
It would be fantastic if we had the same option for linking participants in batch as we do with linking tributes.
Under Batch Design -> Defaults -> Honour/Memorial.
So that the participant information will carry forward to each row, the same as the tribute information does now.
I'm pretty sure you can already add multiple participants as a global add?

Not being able to add participants in a batch - really slows things down! Event season is busy enough!

I would love to be able to batch event participants
