I would like to echo the sentiments, as expressed below back in 2016, in regards to a more flexible approach to pledge write-offs in the Gifts Module (for viewing purposes) and by extension to the RE:Export module for inclusion in exported data. Thank you!
I'd like to see write-offs as truly a separate Gift Record...like a Pay- Gift, and show up separately on the Gifts Tab, but with a negative amount and show on the Pledge's record, just like payments do, but quite obviously labeled as a write-off. This would simply, for me at least, a lot of exporting & reporting needs, and save me repeated explanations to those in Finance as well as others in Development.
I would also like some more options with write-offs. At my current org, they have been comparing RE to finance and because accounting and RE handle write-offs differently, it's not always easy to pull and compare info. To me, a write-off is a negative amount in *some* cases, depending on how I'm looking at the money.
I agree. We have no way to accurately report for our campaign easily. Not being able to exclude write-offs from reports or be able to view the information in a gift query as it is attached to the pledge makes my job very difficult!
