pre-populate RE with countries, currency and address block formatting

BBMS works with RE but can only accept gifts from countries that are set up in RE.
We are a global organization anticipating gifts from countries around the world that are not set up. According to the CIA, there are 251 countries in the world.
BB should provide that information for their customers.

Totally agree! We built this out and it was such a pain.

AMEN - and should provide the proper formatting of addresses from each country. This is a huge amount of work and research. I also hate that it does not work when you export and have to create letters - the block is not preserved and I can't for the life of me figure out how to send the data to a mailhouse the proper way.

I would also like to see in the international section - which countries are set up and which are still set to the default.

I completely agree. I have asked this question of BB customer support since we became a user of Raiser's Edge a year ago. I work for an international organization and it is very time consuming to setup these address formats. It seems that address formats for countries should be hard-coded into the program. In effect, we are left to google-search address formats on the internet. In a modern world, this seems funny because address are a standard set by the government/postal service - they are not a preference that should be changed/setup by the user.

In addition, we discovered a problem with formatting China's address. According to the information we found, China's address format includes the street and city on the same address line. However, according to Raiser's Edge, "Address must be the only field on a line". In effect, we are unable to format a Chinese address according to government postal regulations. This is problematic.

I hope your software developers take these suggestions into consideration and update the program to make it more adaptive for users.

    One more comment -
If the international address settings are not setup, we discovered that when configuring an Export (using Excel as the output) the address lines export correctly but the country does not export. This is confusing because new users may not realize this. In effect, they may send international mail (inc. expensive postage) without a country specified, and risk having those mail pieces returned. Please consider formatting all international address formats. thank you.
