RE app - For security reasons - the IT people would like to be the only people that know the System ID. We will install it for them. For that reason we would like the System ID once installed on the phone the IT people would be the only one to install it and know the System ID #. Then on the login screen we would want the System ID to be hidden.
I agree. Particularly since Blackbaud considers the System ID# part of the security for the Mobile app. Having that security mechanism plainly displayed on every phone for every login weakens the security.
I strongly agree. We wanted to use that key to control and know which devices had the software. Displaying the key shoots that plan in the foot.
We have been trying the RE mobile out on a few phones. Okay, so I see that it makes you login if you back out of the app. if you want me to rate which one is more important to fix it would be: RE App System ID hidden. If they don't have the System ID to load the app - then they can't load it on a different phone. I realize that they still would need the Raiser's Edge user name and password.
Example: What if they were an old student that worked for us and they were disgruntal: We forget to delete there login info off Raiser's Edge. They have the System ID, so they load it on there phone and they still have a login right. They are in, they can do whatever damage they want. I realize, get rid of their login as soon as they leave - however the reality is people forget. That is why we build into things a security precaution like not giving the System ID out to the user. What I want to see is only the DBA and IT Server guy can load the RE mobile on the phone. The user would have to know there user name and password. That is a much more secure way to lock it down. This is coming from someone that has been in IT 15 years, please take my advice. Karen Burger (DBA at MNSU)
