We have the event module.  Allowing us to create a custom view to input information for an Event would help us minimize effort here.  I'd like to control some data entry on event records for adding attribute fields and data.  Not sure why this functionality is limited to constituent records.  If you pay for the event module you should have the ability to create a custom view for events.
