Many organizations have auction fundraisers so it would be nice to have an auction module that is integrated with Raiser's Edge. This save us from having to go to a third party provider, get a third party credit card gateway, and then do all that duplicate entry at the end of the event. It's not enough to sell tickets and seat people at tables.
We need to be able to list the silent and live auction items and, when sold, note the price and link them to the purchaser. Also we need to be able to have items that can be sold multiple times, like raffle tickets, wall of wine tickets, and "raise the paddle" gifts - and track those and link them to the purchaser. At the beginning of the evening we need to be able to swipe the guest's credit card and store it for faster checkout - as well as note the guest's bidder number. At the end of the evening we need to be able to print a receipt that lists all the guest's purchases and donations and, of course, have this all be linked to their record in Raiser's Edge.
