Yes please! Even with export, if I select to only include HOH, it will include a non-HOH if the HOH is not in the query. Kinda defeats the purpose!!

Changing the status of this idea to Voting Open because it's been reviewed. While not currently planned, this will remain open for voting and future consideration as a change.

Please note that this idea only represents adding the ability to query more directly on whether a constituent is Head of Household. This is currently possible as noted in previous comments, but requires including the field from Relationships.

Any other ideas, such as changing where Head of Household is actually tracked on the record, should be requested in a separate idea.

Yes, please! I know that the Export can accurately remove those secondary records, but that means I have to export my list and then import it back to add appeal tags or event records as Invited...or else I'll have records marked for both HOH and SecRec, when only one piece of mail is being sent - looks like double-counting, and throws off stats.

As a workaround, and since we've moved solicit codes to Attributes (those are easier to work with there), we've turned Solicit Codes into a HOH or Secondary Record tag - nice and easy to see on Bio1 (without opening the relationship record)...ut it's still a pain in the neck when compiling mailing lists.

Yes I agree- Export is an option but time consuming and Export does not have a favorties option. Added a head of houshold option in query that works would save a lot of time.

You can remove non-heads of households in query - under relationships/individuals/ there's the option to search based on whether the person is the head of household or not. The easiest way to make sure you've accounted for all the heads of household is to do a suppression query that includes a line "This Individual Is The Head of Household equals No."

I would like the head of household option not recorded through the spousal relationship and have HoH recorded directly on the HoH individual record.

OH MY GOD! It is so backwards!

Having the "This Individual Is the Head of Household" flag available at the "Constituent Information" and "Spouse" levels of a Constituent Query (rather than buried and only available at the "Relationships > Individuals" level would be IMMENSLY helpful!!

I don't use query to export, but this this would be helpful because I often look at the query before running it through mail or export to get a sense of the number of constituents I'm gong to be mailing to or whatever.

It would be great to be able to display which record is head of household in a query as well.

This might help with a problem we have... Sometimes we catch a spouse in a query for a mailing because the info lives on the HOH record. We don't actually want to send to the couple.

I am frightened by the reasons people say they want this. If you have suggested you want this so you do not have to use export to produce your mailing list - USE EXPORT TO PRODUCE YOUR MAILING LIST. Export does not just remove HOHs it also does address processing and removes anyone without send mail or with has no valid address, etc. which is much more cumbersome in query. Never export from query. I want this feature so that I have the ability to put this in output for auditing queries but I am afraid if it gets added what others will use it for. Shudder.

Please, please add this. I need to be able to use this information to flag certain constituents, particularly when running a gift query. Export has it's faults (e.g. not pulling gifts/constituents made by non-HOH spouses not soft-credited to HOH) when being set to export HOH records only.

While there's workarounds in the query (as included in the knowledgebase), it can complicate the query creation process unnecessarily. I was surprised that this wasn't included - there are uses for it that would be helpful even beyond creating a mailing list (which, as noted by others, should be done by the Mail module or Export anyways)
