enter matching gift as an installment to match a pledge

I would like to enter a matching gift as installments for a each year of a 5 year pledge.

I do not think this is wise. Just set up the person to be automatically matched (via relationships) and then any time you enter the actual installment it will prompt you to add the corresponding matching gift. You would want a MG pledg be to an actual payment, not to a pledge.
