Cancel button: query, report, export

If it is a complex query, report, export, sometimes it will freeze or hang for a long time. It would be nice to be able to "cancel" without closing so that an edit can be made to the query, export, or report. Sometimes I have ran the query and then seen a mistake that could make it more difficult to run and wanted to change but had to wait forever to be able to go back to criteria.

I agree! There should be a way to cancel a query. There are times that you don't realize how complex a query is until you start running it. It's a pain and a loss of valuable time to sit and wait for a query to run, especially when it was pure accident.

I was about to enter this same idea when I came across this post! I agree. I have had to close out of RE many times because of a faulty query that 'gets stuck'.

This is such a major issue in RE. There needs to be a why to stop a query while its issuing. I have wasted so much time when designing queries. I try to find the most efficient setup but sometimes it's unclear which will run faster. Ctrl+Alt+Delete is not a solution especially for those of us who are hosted.

Have you read the KB article related to this at https://kb.blackbaud.com/articles/Article/64190 ?
This is the most inaccurate reply and not customer service oriented at all. I have a lot of queries that I would like to cancel and I know that they would still be running if I didn't stop them.

"Even when we want to stop a task, usually it finishes before we have completed the stop. As such, we generally don't even try to stop a task unless it is expected to take at least a day to run."
