Ability to Export Description and ID and "User Choice" for all fields that have both in the system

My specific example is when I do a Constituent Export (Blackbaud Report Writer format) that includes Proposal information and choose the Campaign or Fund field on the Proposal what gets exported can be either the Description or the ID. Which gets exported is dependent upon the User's personal settings (See BB33116). I have a custom report that was filtering based upon the Proposal Campaign Description. When one user opened the report it came up blank. Turns out this user has their personal options set to display (and therefore also export) the Campaign ID instead. Anywhere a field can have a Description and an ID we need to be able to either choose which gets exported using "Criteria..." or be able to choose between the two (or both) in the list of available fields. Adding "User Choice" as an additional field would also be nice so that the export & report could be created to display using the user's preference but still have consistency in the base data exported.

Yea I've votes for this even though I'm not sure the actual solution is in this idea, but the core of the problem with reporting is described in John's idea. I am struggling to understand the dynamics between proposals and campaigns, and in an attempt at a proper campaign status report to report on gift amounts and proposal amounts pertaining to a specific campaign or campaigns. Must I learn the entire object structure of the database and report off of the back end to do this?! Well, I'm working on it (give me a few years), but in the meantime those user setting dependencies for campaigns, funds and appeals really are limiting reporting and the canned prospect report suite is insufficient. Exporting a "User Choice" field might both allow us to show the report in their preferred format, but more importantly to program a work around in the report to link to (campaign/fund/appeals) data effectively, not just if by chance the link is set to the field the user prefers. While I'm sure there are many valid reasons the data is structured as it is, there are equally a hundred why in practice these records must communicate more fluidly for custom reporting. Now to continue my search whether an idea already exists for adding more fields to the Campaign export options (or vice versa adding goal as an export field under proposals\campaigns and gifts\campaigns and constituent\gifts\campaigns...
