Hello, following discussion with Stephen Mally, and at the recent users group in Bristol, we are keen to seek more information on how we can get around netcommunity spark linking to funds and not appeals. We have had to change our fund structure to use BBNC spark.
At this time of year as we are preparing budgets for 2013/14 it would be the best time to rectify this is possible. Hope you can help Azadi.
We have the same problem and are opting to manually add appeals when we batch as our volume is low for now - but it's far from ideal for us. As volumes increase we'll have to look at this again and consider options (for us, none of which include changing our financial recording structure).
I don't know if the way Blackbaud uses the fund is because of the way the system works in the US, but none of the UK charities I've worked for use it in the same way. Instead appeal has always been used to differentiate one activity from another.
I'm really hoping Blackbaud will take a look at this. Ideally you'd have the option to set a fund, campaign and appeal on each event or donation page so that coding was automatically assigned through the batch, rather than having to do everyting manually.
I agree! I have no idea why funds instead of appeals are used. One fund is for research - why would I want to add a whole bunch of research funds when the money is going to the same place? That's what appeals are for!
I would love to see this idea implemented.
We also use different pages for different appeals. We would like to assign page 1 a certain appeal and page 2 a different appeal. This could help us evaluate our strategies. Currently, the best I can do is use the unique page name to query and globally change.
