Great idea, in theory. But how would RE deal with titles that aren't gender specific, such as Reverend, Dr., Senator, Judge, etc.?

I agree that it would not be perfect - but what 80-90% of people do not have these kinds of titles.

I am constantly updating this manually for records created by BBNC. I can include title as a field on the form, but because gender is conditional my default set isn't reliable for updating. If it would update gender based on this field it would save me so much clean up. I would love to only have to review the gender-neutral titles.

Nicole - I too have to manually update this (actually through a global change but still involves manual intervention). One thing I have done is create several different default sets when staff are creating new people they have to choose from single male, single female, married male, married female, etc. which has helped a lot.

Do you use this with BBNC? From what I gather, BBNC let's you use a single default set that it automatically applies to all new records. So I don't really get the option to choose which one is used each time.

By manually, I guess I really mean periodic global changes based on a query.

Oh - sorry, no, do not use BBNC. Then when they implement this it will be fantastic - let's hope it applies when doing single entry, batch entry, importing or downloading (BBNC, CLO, Sphere, etc.)

This could be a checkbox that is not mandatory in the Config area for each title and/or suffix.....

This is interesting but would need to be an option/business rule that could be turned on or off as required and for specific titles for an institution as a whole (not individual users). As previously discussed, there are many titles that are not gender specific and others that have traditionally been one gender but the world is changing.
