When the surviving spouse's gender is anything other than male or female, the business rules to update their marital status don't work and their status remains as "Married" rather than updating to "Widowed."

It would be good to either add an additional option for that, or to just remove the gendered application of this business rule and have surviving spouses regardless of gender have their marital status changed to "Widowed."
