Allow entering 4 digit credit card numbers in batch

Add back the feature to place 4 digit credit card entries into a donors record. I'd like to suggest revisiting the entry of 4 digit credit card numbers when batching and having them integrated into the donors record. I see that a decision was made that is is NOT a high priority but the feature was available until the upgrade and it seems unusual to take a feature away when your mission is to enhance customer usage.

We just got a patch for 7.96.6402.16 and my gift processing team says this is now fixed! Hooray!

We have this issue, too. In response to the Admin, Jarod, who asked about why we do this: When processing gift batches, we often have gifts that have already been charged externally. When we are uploading these gifts via Batch, we are only uploading the last 4 digits as as reference number to the payment method used. We don't need (or want) to store the entire credit card number. In fact, via our online gift site, we don't even have it -- we only download the last 4, as they have already been processed through our online merchant.

Another issue is that when preparing our batches, if the user tabs through the row past the Credit Card Number column to add data, the field blanks out and we lose those 4 digits, unless at least 7 other digits, like zeros, are added before leaving the field.

Thanks for submitting this idea! I'd love to hear more about your use case for entering 4 digit card numbers in batch. While it is never (or rarely) our intention to remove functionality from the Product, in this particular case changing the application code would be a pretty risky change that may require additional audits since its in the area of code that facilitates actual credit card number tokenization. Since no actual card numbers are only 4 digits long, it was deemed to be not worth putting valid credit card processing at risk to address the change.
