When using the duplicate constituent merge utility, I'd like to have record open after merging.
Anytime you do something by an automated process a certain amount of manual human cleanup is required. When merging records through the constituent record, the merged record opens and you can review it. The merge tool just merges the records and removes them from the list. You have to write down the records or remember them somehow so that you can go back in for clean up.
Merging can duplicate things like constituent codes or addresses and sometimes it can mark a record inactive or no valid address if one of the merged records has this info checked.
Right now, I go into the record that I am merging in the "tool" and then go through the old process of merging so that I don't have to struggle to find the record again. So basically, the duplicate constituent merge utility just finds the records for me, but I don't actually use the merge power in it.
Instead of opening the target constituent record after the merge, an alternative would be to just add the target constituent to the "most recently viewed" list of records in the Records screen, which would allow the person doing the merging to easily find and open the target record.
