It would be much more efficient to  open the letters for a Mail Merg with a right click in the 'Mail Merge' function to do any edits before starting the MM process.  

Alternatively you could have the letters used in mail merge somewhere in 'config' so when simple edits need doing you could open the letter, make the edits and save without having to go through the whole 'Mail Merg' process.
