The ability to delete alias names is required. In fact the whole alias record so that name and type are deleted in the one go.

We have a situation where the field Known Name on education record has been renamed and used totally differently. Because in business rules Known Name was ticked we had values in Alias appearing that didn't make any sense. A global function to delete all these unwanted alias's would have saved a lot of time.

We better get over it, this isn't going to happen.. the question has been asked in 2014...

This is ridiculous that this doesn't exist, I have 19,000 aliases I want to delete and I think it is preventing our Duplicate Search tool from being able to run AT ALL.

I cannot believe there is not a way to maintain aliases, other than manually, one at a time.

I know Blackbaud has all but abandoned classic Raiser's Edge, but this needs to be implemented. At the very least, support should provide a SQL script that can be run to delete aliases.

This is very important and should be added in the next update. There are several ideas in the idea bank for this.

Agreed, the lack of ability to delete aliases in bulk is a massive oversight.

Do you want the ability to delete or globally delete?

This would be helpful. The alias field is nice, but I was also at an organization that started using it for sort name and then realized that was not the best place. There is no way to import changes to the Alias, and no way to globally delete an alias of a specific type.

At this time there is no option to Update Existing Constituent Alias records via Import due to their absence of an Import ID. Additionally there is no Delete option within a Constituent Global Change.

I agree with Chase - it would be so useful to be able to update them (if they had an import ID, for example). At the moment I have circa 200 aliases of the same Alias Type that were imported in an incorrect format. I could just re-add them in the correct format, but I will at some point want to export those aliases, and then I will have to remember to export two aliases per constituent and tidy them up in the resulting spreadsheet. I have always advocated using Alias over attributes where appropriate, but at least an attribute could be updated if necessary.

The ability to delete alias globally, with a plugin, or by special request (if hosted) is a must!

The fact that interacting with the record is the only way to accomplish this is a huge oversight.

I'd like to see a solution in place immediately, as this is currently impacting our day to day.

Updating (Aliases being assigned an import ID) would be nice, but Deleting en masse is a fundamental requirement.
