Sometimes a recurring gift is cancelled by the donor a few days after the usual payment date.  If an external company processes the payments, you may not receve the payment data files for up to a week after, therefore you cannot cancel the DD as it stops the schedule.  Any outstanding payment should still be able to be paid even when it is cancelled.
