Proposal Amount Funded needs to update when Pledge Payments (ie: Pay-Cash) are linked

Right now, the Amount Funded field on a Proposal does not update when a pledge payment is linked to the proposal. Thank you for allowing us to link the pledge payment but it is ridiculous that it does not update the amount funded. I would rather that update than a pledge as the pledge payment is the ACTUAL amount that was funded.

Yes! A linked pledge should automatically populate in the EXPECTED amount NOT the FUNDED amount. Our workaround has been to zero out the amount before hitting save when linking a pledge, then manually adding the pledge amount to the Expected field. You need to link the pledge for pledge payments to automatically link to that proposal. IN ADDITION, subsequent pledge payments (Pay-Cash) should automatically populate and update the FUNDED field each time, and the DATE field should also update with each new pledge payment. Right now this process is too labor-intensive, prone to manual errors, Proposal/Opportunity reporting metrics are affected and not updated automatically. Our SOPs involve so much back and forth between fundraisers and data team. Please add all these changes.

In the charity financial world, and this may differ from the financial world purported below, pledged amounts is not revenue, it's not even a promise to pay so doesn't guarantee anything and isn't a number that can be relied on. Surely the pledge should be linked to the expected amount rather than the funded amount and when the Pay-Cash is processed this figure goes in the funded amount?

If a pledge gift is linked to a proposal, the amount funded should be mapped to the amount received field located at the bottom of the Instalments/Payments tab of the pledge gift, rather than the gift amount itself

If it did - it would double count both the pledge and the payment. Funded = revenue in the financial world so this is appropriately counting the full pledge as revenue, which is correct. However I do agree that seeing the amount "received" would be helpful. I think it should be a different field however because going from what we have to NOT seeing the full amount pledged would be worse.

As pledge payments are the majority of the gifts we link to the Proposal tab, it is hard to understand why this Gift Type is not included as an option. Currently we are linking the "pay cash" gift and then manually entering the Funded Amount.

    Thanks,

Why are you not linking the actual pledge?

Using BI, we do our reporting from a gift perspective (pledges and/or actual cash in) or a proposal perspective. From the perspective of a Development Officer using the proposals for the purpose of managing active gift requests, our preference is to link the pledge, have the amount funded/pledged be the amount on the proposal, and then we make the proposal inactive. Our issue if we are within RE is that if a gift is adjusted, it doesn't correct the proposal or the proposal table in the BI. Since we use proposals only for the purpose of managing a gift request until it is documented as a gift/pledge, it isn't important and in fact it is our preference to not link pledge payments to proposals. Our gift logs, note when a pledge payment is received and what installment it is, so we have other tools that are more reliable for this.
