It would be cool if there were a way to link a constituent with a certain campaign, as a donor to that campaign. This could happen in two ways:

1. The link would be created automatically when a gift is created.
2. The link could be created "by hand".

We are currently running our 15-16 annual campaign. For our own purposes we have three types of constituents who are being counted as donors to the campaign.

1. The first type is a constituent who has pledged or given a cash gift.
2. The second type is a constituent who has not given, but from who we confidently anticipate receiving a gift.
3. The third type is a constituent who has donated in a significant way to another campaign or fund (such as directed giving or capital). Due to this donor's other given we do not anticipate receiving an annual gift, however we wish to count them as donors to the annual campaign anyway.

So, the first type of constituent would already be linked as a donor to the campaign. The reason for their link could be something like "donated" or "gave" or "pledged".

The second type of constituent would be linked by hand. The reason for their link could be something like "gift anticipated"

The third type of constituent would also be linked by hand. The reason for their link could be something like "credited due to directed giving" or "credited due to capital giving".

With this methodology I would be able to query donors who are linked to the 15-16 annual campaign.

One thing that my boss asks me to do is provide a percentage of families who have contributed. With this type of functionality I could query our current parents and output such data that I could easily arrive at a percentage that includes constituents whose gifts are "anticipated" or who are "credited".

As it stands, I am keeping a running list of such constituents, and I need to remember to credit them once I have exported parent giving data.
