Not sure what the suggestion is here. Are you asking for the ability to change it "on the fly" as a formatting option in Export? For example, within export, you can choose to export the State field using the abbreviation or the state translation.
A setting like this would be nice. People get a little panicky when I forget to change the grad year back to a 2 year format, or if I'm running a lot of exports and can't change it back yet.
