Reporting On Who Gives More One Way Versus Another

I'm trying to identify people that give via mail versus online versus over the phone.
It would be nice if there was some type of query or report that could list people by how they give most often.
If a constituent has 100 gifts, and 73 of them were online, then they would be identified as an "online donor" and something could be done for them.

As it stands, I'm doing a query where the results show how many gifts come from each source.
I have to perform some calculations, in Excel, to define those groupings.
It looks like I'll have to get those groupings back into Raiser's Edge (maybe as a Constituent Attribute), so that I can query against it.

It would be cool to have something, more automated.

    Josh, have you considered using gift code field? Just a thought. To do the query/report you need to get the online/phone entered on records somewhere.

    I didn't consider using Gift Code, but how would that improve the current workflow?
    Wouldn't I still have to get a comparison, per gift?
