I have to manually enter a specific attribute to over 1000 constituents and it would be SO much easier and faster to be able to do this through batch. I am not able to do it through Global Change or Import because I have no way of identifying these constituents in a query.
Melinda, yes it would be nice to be able to do more things like that in batch. But you're still going to have to enter 1000 records in batch.
Your other option to entering names in batch manually would be to create a query - only criteria is Constituent Info > Specific Record one of... Using F7 and tab keys you can create the list just as fast as you would be able to in batch. Then with that query do a global change. Works pretty slick though I haven't done if for that many records. Just a suggestion.
Do you have their constituent ID? Knowledgebase solution BB124766 explains how to do it.
I have never really had a reason to use constituent batches, but I'm a little surprised there is no option to create a query when you commit them. Is it true that you cannot create a query at that time?
I would love to see this as well. In a recent direct mail campaign, we included a brief survey without a financial ask or remit slip included, so the responses we get will almost exclusively be people simply filling out the survey and returning it. The results of the survey will be encoded via attribute. I would love to be able to have a volunteer enter the survey results via batch, but a constituent batch only allows you to create new constituents, not update existing ones.
Writing this information into a .csv file is a bad option for me because the attribute description needs to be one of a specific set of descriptions. Any typos will result in errors, thus making the process much more tedious than it has to be.
