Event managers need to learn how many of each unit in an event is selling. For example: How many raffle tickets, sponsors at a particular level, entries, or advertisements have been sold for a particular event? There should be a single event report capable of answering these questions.
When you pair up BBNC with RE to process event registrations, it's a good system. People register for an event, have the option of picking different participation levels, their payments get processed, and all the information smoothly flows into RE. RE event has a lovely "Units" section, where we specify different registration levels, prices, and cost. BBNC then offers a choice of these units for each event registration part.
Once the information gets into RE, however, there are NO reports based on Units. If I want to know how many people registered for each registration level, GOOD LUCK! According to KB BB291274, I have to run an export, or create a pivot report. There's no built-in report. Yet another example of RE designers stopping development on a process before it's ready for actual use. Right hand, meet left hand - you have much to discover...
At times I don't understand why I am even using the event module. For all the effort it takes to add information, the reports that pull that info are incomplete and not really useful.
Basically, when looking at an event, I can tell that someone is a participant - but I can't tell what type of sponsor, what type of registration, what they are purchasing at all. It makes it almost useless because I have to export actual gift amounts to determine what the person purchased. It wouldn't be so frustrating if I didn't spend the time inputting the information every time I register someone.
If someone registers online and buys two tickets to an event, all I can see in the event module is that the person is registered. I can't even tell how many tickets they bought! If BBNC or Online Express knows, why can't the event module know? Fixing this would save me so many headaches.
Why doesn't Blackbaud create what should be a simple report? Our Event Managers don't use the event module because they don't find it very useful and this is one of the primary reasons why - none of the reports address their practical needs.
