Pronunciation Field

There should be a field where you can fill in the phoenetic pronunciation of a person's name

You could add it to the Aliases section on Bio1.

In additon to Aliases, you could create an Attribute that holds that information.

This is such a specific request that it falls under - that is what attributes are for. You can also use an annotation that you check to have it pop-up any time you open the record for just those that are hard to pronounce. I do this all the time with those that are oddly spelled to tell people "NO-do not change the spelling of this - i got it right." Why not use it for phonetic pronounciation?

I would use the Alias field! Easiest way to manage it. Create an alias type of "Name Proununciation" or something similar, then type the name in phoenetically.

Except sometimes people have both aliases and difficult to pronounce names. Plus, that isn't what an alias is, you might as well say you could put it in maiden name or nickname. As for attributes, it is not at all a specific request, many large organizations especially would benefit from a pronunciation field, and frankly, I am tired of the "create an attribute" response. That is the answer a lot of people give for everything

I disagree that this is a highly requested field. I guess we will see how well it gets votes - I could be proven wrong. I would still simply use an annotation.
