Sure would be nice - am guessing it's more a Word issue. It's a pain but to get a data that doesn't auto change whenever I'm doing a merge of more than a few letters I change the date to current date in my merge doc. Have to key it in - don't let it auto enter.
This is a word issue, but I know that with some of my letters I don't have this problem. I'm not sure what I did different for those. Maybe I didn't check "update automatically" on the merge field?

This is a word issue - not anything Blackbaud can control.

See http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2349189,00.asp for how to fix this issue in Word.
