Have the address default to individual's address instead of the organization's address when adding an individual relationship. Currently when you add a non-constituent as an individual relationship of an organization, it defaults the relationship record to the organization's address. Therefore, it changes every relationship record of the non-constituent to the organization's contact information.
This is as designed and it should be this way. As a representative of the organization their address at the organization should be in that relationship field. If you make changes to it and they should not get mail at the primary organization address, when you get the prompt asking if you want to make these same changes to all linked addresses you need to say NO.
Just so I am clear . . . if we have 30 donors from hypothetical company Widget. And we link them to Widget Company's record and we want to send them a letter, but we want to send it to them at their home address and not Widget HQ's address, the only way to do that is to go into each of the 30 records, unlink and then re-load their constituent record into the shared contact.
We have several organisations whereby the church do not want post going to their physical address but to the contact’s home address. It would be helpful to have it pull through to the individual relationship's home address rather than the orgs address.
Do not make this default to a home/mailing address. As Melissa posted, they are linked as a rep of the organization, so 99.99% of time we want the org address used when sending mail to them as the org rep.
