table short codes
To be able to add short codes to tables other than just education/constituent codes.
We are trying to find a way to store all our resources order data and our ideal would have been to select an action attribute e.g. ‘Free orders’ then all users could choose the full name of the resource, but our export to the fulfilment house would be the ‘short code’ of the actual product code with the quantity in the comments field.

Looks like this isn't getting much love, but it may be that most people don't know what they are missing. Coming from the software development world and working with db's for a number of years, to me, it is common sense to ALWAYS have at minimum, a short code and a long description. What use is a code if no one knows what it means. Also, it's a pain and a waste of space to have to enter a long description each time and then makes cells for reporting bigger. It's not hard to create both fields nor does it take up a lot of room...but it would make life much easier. I'd give this a 100 votes if I could.
I agree, and specifically with regard to ratings, ie
AA $1,000,000+ for Long Description
AA for Short Description
