Gift date can not be adjusted and one should be able to do so. For example, if batch is used to enter gifts and the date is set in default incorrectly, it is not possible to change the dates on the gifts if they have been posted.
per Knowledgebase article #46070, "how to adjust a posted gift or edit an adjusted gift" (https://kb.blackbaud.com/articles/Article/46070) the Gift Date actually CANNOT be adjusted using the adjustment process, and the correct way to do this is by just going to the gift date field (and g/l post date field) and changing it right there. This is horrible! This creates zero audit trail, and really is bad for accounting and finance purposes. Please make it so the gift date and g/l post date fields are alterable using the adjustment (and/or amendment process?) so that we can properly track changes to our gifts and satisfy audit requirements.

Are you sure you have security rights to do this? That could be your problem.
